I will be raising my deposit rate for Seattle sessions only.
What brought this about?
I had a spanko flying in to town to see me, and his flight was delayed. Not his fault, but I just don’t have that kind of time to waste. I pulled some favors and was able to get the space reserved for later on. So I ended up having 2-hours to waste while waiting for him. When I got the final email saying it would still be another hour, I said no more, I’m done and the session is no longer happening.
So on top of the 5.5 hours listed above + extra 2 hours waiting on him because of flight delays + we did about 30+ emails back and forth, so add in another hour on top of that = 8.5, then subtract an hour since the session did NOT actually happen. Comes to a grand total of 7.5 hours that I was NOT compensated for. The deposit money went straight to the space I rent out.
Not only did I earn no money and wasted 7.5 hours of my time, but I also went to get dinner while waiting for fellow, so getting dinner cost me money. So I actually lost money because of this.
Again, I am in no way blaming this fellow, just explaining my reasoning why I’m raising my deposit rate for Seattle sessions.
A 1-hour session is actually around 5.5+ hours
What goes into a 1-hour Seattle session?
1/2 hour…. get myself ready & bag packed
1 hour….drive to Seattle
1/2 hour…set up the session space
1 hour the session itself
1/2 hour….clean up the space and turn everything off
1 hour drive home from Seattle
20 min – unpack bag, clean implements, change outfits
and at least 30 min of email time (for 2-3 emails back in forth. If there are a lot more emails, then add on another 1-3 hours to this time)
